Abstract
Lateral epicondylitis and medial epicondylitis (tennis elbow and golfer’s elbow, respectively) are a frequent cause of elbow pain and usually associated with overuse. Obtain a detailed work and activity history and evaluate for point tenderness at either the medial or lateral epicondyle. Most cases can be treated conservatively with activity modification. Routine radiographs and immobilization are not recommended. For severe cases, a steroid injection may provide some relief, but the provider must take care not to inject the tendon itself, as this can cause weakness and potential rupture.
