Scarf osteotomy. A, Two short arms of Z-cut should be perfectly parallel to allow capital fragment to displace laterally. To lengthen metatarsal, both short arms should project from medioproximal to laterodistal and remain parallel. B, If short arms converge, osteotomy is impossible to displace laterally.
