Garth et al. radiographic technique for apical oblique view of shoulder. With patient seated and injured shoulder adjacent to vertical cassette, chest is rotated to 45-degree oblique position. Beam is directed 45 degrees caudally, passing longitudinally through scapula, which rests at 45-degree angle on thorax while extremity is adducted. Origin of coracoid, midway between anterior and posterior margins of glenoid, aids in orientation on radiograph.
