A and B, Mechanism of injury in a fall on outstretched hand with elbow in approximately 30 degrees of flexion. There is separation of all three articulations, with humerus acting as wedge between proximal radius and ulna (B). C, Mechanism of reduction aims to reverse deforming forces with longitudinal traction and compression of radius and ulna together.
