Continuous intrathecal baclofen infusion. Baclofen is injected through skin to reservoir, which is located within surgically placed pump beneath skin of abdomen. The pump, which is about the size of a hockey puck, is programmable using a device placed against skin and over the pump. Medication is continuously infused through catheter that tunnels under skin and is inserted directly into spinal canal; baclofen mixes with spinal fluid, directly affecting spinal cord and decreasing spasticity.
