Tuberculosis of long bones. A, Atypical tuberculosis of ulna proved by biopsy. B, Typical spina ventosa. This patient had multiple cavities throughout the skeleton. First diagnosis was syphilis; Wassermann test was positive. No improvement occurred with antisyphilitic treatment. Biopsy revealed typical tuberculosis. Tuberculous otitis media developed later, and patient died 2 years after the first examination.
