Modification of Gibson posterolateral approach to hip. Anterior part of joint capsule is preserved to keep hip from dislocating after surgery. Acetabulum is not well exposed, but approach is sufficient for removing femoral head and inserting prosthesis. SEE TECHNIQUE 1.72.
